Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Stuart Scheinberg, D.V.M.

Dr. Stuart Scheinberg grew up on a horse farm in upstate New York. He had dreams of becoming a veterinarian since childhood. Growing up on a family farm was a great experience in which his love of animals was cultivated through raising and breeding horses, cattle, rabbits, and even chickens.
Dr. Scheinberg pursued his dream of becoming a veterinarian by attending Cornell University College of Agrigulture and obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1988. He went on to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine where he obtained his D.V.M. in 1994.
In 1994, Dr. Scheinberg started his career in a mixed animal practice in Frederick, Maryland. In 1996 he and his wife, Dr. Cheryl Holmes, followed their dream and opened their own practice in Glenwood, Maryland.

Dr. Ann Hahn, D.V.M.
Being the oldest child of a veterinarian, I grew up with people forever asking if I was going to be a vet like my dad. So of course I had to be different. Thus, I went to work in the paper industry – first as a clerk, then as a machine draftsman, and finally working in research before coming to my senses and applying for vet school in Wisconsin. After graduating in 1997, I packed up my VW and 2 cats, and moved to Maine. After 2 years, I landed a job on an US Army base in Germany, taking care of the pets owned by the military families. Unfortunately, it didn’t cover moving expenses, so I sold nearly everything I owned, packed the rest into boxes, and moved myself (with help from the USPS) to a little town called Vilseck, about 2 hours north of Munich.
In 2002 I returned to the US, moving to Seattle and marrying the handsome Captain (also a veterinarian) that had swept me off my feet. After a couple of years, it was time to move again. So we packed up and drove across the country in January (not recommended!) to Virginia. One move later, we are in Maryland and looking forward to staying put for awhile, with our 3 cats and one dog named Stubby.
As a veterinarian, it is my goal to be a partner with owners in caring for their pets, using preventative medicine to minimize disease risk right from the start. I am open to all questions and love it when people care enough to look things up on the internet. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone – two legs and four!
From a young age, working with animals has always been a way of life for Sarah. She grew up breeding and showing dachsunds, and also worked with the local riding center for the handicapped. This experience fed her passion for turning to medicine.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, Sarah spent time working in a general equine practice and the standardbred racing industry. Dr. Smith's areas of special interest include lameness, sports medicine, and reproduction.
"I strive to provide the most up-to-date treatment options available to the horse and owner, recognizing the importance of the human-animal bond to provide the very best care possible to the client", says Dr. Smith.
